A Laboratory of Experimental Pneumology

Lung diseases are a group of heterogeneous disorders that include chronic multifactorial degenerative diseases and acute conditions secondary to lung and airways injuries of different etiologies. The pathogenetic mechanisms beyond the development of both chronic and acute respiratory disorders account for cellular and molecular processes involved in lung tissue response to damage and regeneration.
Our research focuses on molecular and cellular processes driving lung tissue degenerative mechanisms. Moreover, we aim at exploring potential mechanisms for novel drugs and tissue-regenerative approaches. We focus on advanced analyses of cellular commitment in combination with biomaterials to improve regenerative medicine for epithelial and mesenchymal tissues restoration.
